Beaver Fact of the Week: Serious Gnawing Power

Everybody knows beavers chew down trees to use as both food and as building material for their dams and lodges. But how large of trees can beavers take down?

Beavers have been known to take down trees with trunks over a meter in diameter! That’s like three feet across! You can tell when a tree was taken down by a beaver because of the characteristic conical shape of the stump.
